Korean Car Tax Calculator

한국어

Enter engine displacement and first registration date to see this year's car tax.

You get each half year instalment, the age based reduction, the local education tax, and what each of the four prepayment windows would deduct. Rates and formulas come from the Local Tax Act, and the article number sits next to every figure. No login, and nothing you type leaves this page.

A private passenger car of 1598 cc first registered in 2020 pays ₩167,790 in car tax this year. Local education tax is listed separately, and ordinance surcharges are not applied.

Vehicle type

Electric and hydrogen cars have no displacement and pay a flat amount. Buses, trucks, and special vehicles are listed on the rate tables page.

Commercial or private

A car you drive yourself is private. Commercial means a vehicle licensed for passenger or freight transport business.

This is normally the first registration date on your vehicle registration certificate.

Tax year

The current year is selected.

Enter a displacement to see the result.

What this does not include

It does not settle your actual notice. The notice your local government sends is the record.

It does not reflect a local ordinance that raised the rate. These are the standard rates.

It does not apply exemptions, because eligibility differs person by person.

It does not cover the driving based car tax. Only the ownership based tax is here.
